LIVE: Dodgers, Giants renew rivalry FREE on MLB.TV

A classic rivalry has been renewed in San Francisco, featuring plenty of stars on both sides. And you can watch for free on MLB.TV right now.

The first meeting of 2023 between the Dodgers and the Giants is MLB.TV’s Free Game of the Day.

The Dodgers will take on Giants right-hander Logan Webb, who is winless in his first two starts but has struck out 16 batters in just 11 innings this season. He’s been the Giants’ ace over the past two seasons, pitching to a 3.03 ERA in 2021 and a 2.90 mark the following year.

Webb will face an L.A. lineup led by Mookie Betts, the six-time All-Star and 2018 AL MVP. The skilled outfielder has hit 15 or more home runs while stealing 10 or more bases in each of the past eight seasons, including 32 homers and 30 steals in his MVP campaign with the Red Sox.

Betts led the Dodgers to a 15-4 record against the Giants in 2022, but San Francisco managed a sweep in the teams’ first series at Oracle Park last June. Webb was the only Giants pitcher to beat L.A. at Dodger Stadium in 2022.

The Giants will also be facing an ace on the mound as left-hander Julio Urías takes the ball for the Dodgers. Urías is 2-0 with a 1.50 ERA so far for L.A., striking out 12 batters in 12 innings.

Freddie Freeman leads the Dodgers with a .421 batting average -- which ranks sixth in the Majors -- while catcher Will Smith is hitting .357 in the early going. Smith, Trayce Thompson, Jason Heyward and rookie outfielder James Outman are tied for the team lead with three home runs.

But the Giants possess their own pop. Free agent acquisition Michael Conforto has gone deep three times, including the winning homer Sunday against the Royals. Joc Pederson has slugged two homers, as have J.D. Davis, Mike Yastrzemski and David Villar.
