Another star outfielder on the way? Dodgers prospect homers twice amidst hot stretch

In a farm system loaded with talented outfielders, Zyhir Hope still finds a way to stand out.

The Dodgers' No. 2 prospect crushed two mammoth homers on Tuesday as he drove in a career-high six runs in Double-A Tulsa's 13-9 win over Amarillo at HODGETOWN.

The 21-year-old outfielder showed off his signature power while collecting three hits -- one off his season high from April 19 -- as he delivered second multihomer game of the season. MLB's No. 19 prospect may only be 5-foot-10, but he's extremely strong and has a quick swing that enables him to produce electric exit velocities.

Hope's first two-homer game came on May 17, and he's been a man on fire since. He's socked multiple hits in nine of his past 13 games -- including six of his past seven -- which has helped raise his slash line from .261/.329/.437 to .296/.356/.515.

The Virginia native has been one of the most productive players at Double-A this season, with 18 multihit games. That's one off of Red Sox top prospect Franklin Arias' lead and tied with teammate Kendall George (LAD No. 13), Rockies prospect Andy Perez and Cubs prospect Alex Ramírez.

And Hope delivered his latest big game after grounding out and striking out in his first two plate appearances. In his third trip to the plate, he crushed a hanging breaking ball from right-hander Alec Baker (D-backs) onto the concourse at 114 mph, per the stadium's Trackman. One inning later, he took another righty reliever, Indigo Diaz, deep to right field.

For good measure, the lefty slugger stung a single to right-center at 110 mph in the eighth inning off fellow southpaw Carlos Rey.

After showing a significant platoon split last year -- .285/.378/.466 against righties and .215/.371/.322 against lefties -- Hope has had much more balanced production in 2026. In fact, small sample sizes aside, the 2023 11th-rounder has actually been better against lefties (.920 OPS) than against righties (.853) thus far.

Of course, Hope is but one Dodgers outfield prospect having a strong season. James Tibbs III (LAD No. 10) is fourth in the Minors with 17 home runs, Josue De Paula (LAD No. 1/MLB No. 8) leads the Double-A Texas League with a 159 OPS+ and Mike Sirota (LAD No. 4/MLB No. 41) is riding a 42-game on-base streak to a 1.068 OPS. Plus, Eduardo Quintero (LAD No. 3/MLB No. 37) and Charles Davalan (LAD No. 7/MLB No. 96) have intriguing hit and speed tools at High-A.

With so much depth at the position -- Dodgers outfielders also lead the National League and rank third in the Majors in wRC+ (124) -- and Los Angeles in contention once again, Hope figures to draw plenty of interest from other teams ahead of the Trade Deadline.

But for the time being, he's continuing to increase his stock -- one multihit game and massive exit velocity at a time.
