NEW YORK -- Giancarlo Stanton's red-hot bat appears to show no signs of cooling down.
After getting the offense started on Saturday with a blast in the first inning, Stanton followed suit in the first inning on Sunday at Yankee Stadium, connecting off the Rangers' Martín Pérez for a 112.2-mph laser, according to Statcast™, to the seats in left-center to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead in a game they'd go on to win, 7-2.
The home run was Stanton's 30th of the season, the most by a Yankee in his first season with the team since 2009, when Mark Teixeira hit 39. It was also his fifth long ball in his last six games.
Entering Sunday, Stanton was hitting .295/.373/.705 with 11 RBIs through his first 11 games in August. On Saturday he became one of four Major League players with at least 75 runs and 75 RBIs on the year. His homer in the first on Sunday accounted for his 76th RBI of the season.
