Giants-Phillies game postponed, split doubleheader on Thursday

PHILADELPHIA -- The Phillies and Giants tried to get ahead of inclement weather by moving Wednesday night’s start time up by 30 minutes, but there was no escaping the rain.

With steady rain forecasted to fall throughout the evening, Wednesday’s matchup was postponed and rescheduled as part of a split doubleheader Thursday at Citizens Bank Park.

Game 1 will start at 12:35 p.m. ET, followed by Game 2 at 5:35 p.m. ET.

Right-hander Logan Webb, who was scheduled to pitch Wednesday, will start Game 1 for San Francisco on Thursday. The Giants have not named a starter for Game 2. Veteran right-hander Adrian Houser could stay on turn and pitch the nightcap, but the Giants could also consider calling up another pitcher to make a spot start. Another option would be to run a bullpen game because both clubs will have a 27th man available Thursday.

The Phillies have yet to announce their pitching plans for the doubleheader, though they initially had left-hander Cristopher Sánchez and right-hander Andrew Painter scheduled to start the final two games of the series.

Tickets from Wednesday's postponed game will be valid for the rescheduled game on Thursday, April 30, at 5:35 p.m., with all gates opening at 4:35 p.m. (pending the time of completion of game 1).

Note: The Independence Blue Cross Senior Stroll the Bases for fans 55 and over will be rescheduled for another game.
