Giants' Level shows off power from both sides of the plate at Single-A

It feels like Johnny Level continues to find new ways to, well, level up this season.

The Giants' No. 4 prospect collected his first two-homer game of the year -- as part of a three-hit day with a season-high six RBIs -- to power Single-A San Jose's 17-4 drubbing of Stockton at Excite Ballpark on Tuesday afternoon.

It was Level's third career multihomer game, but the first time the switch-hitter did so from each side of the plate as well as the first time for a full-season affiliate. His previous two-homer contests occurred on June 27, 2024 in the Rookie-level Dominican Summer League, when he set a career high of seven RBIs, and last June 19 in the Rookie-level Arizona Complex League.

Level may have been flying under the radar a bit at the start of the year, but he isn't any more. MLB.com's No. 64 prospect has been red-hot at the dish, ranking among the California League leaders with a .327 average (sixth), .565 slugging (third), .955 OPS (tied for second), 48 hits (fourth), 20 extra-base hits (third), seven homers (tied for third), 83 total bases (fourth), 37 RBIs (fourth) and 31 runs (seventh).

On Tuesday, the 19-year-old crushed a three-run homer from the right side of the plate against southpaw Alex Barr (A's) in the second inning. After notching his 15th multihit game of the season by legging out an infield single in the fifth, Level launched another second three-run tater while batting lefty against righty Alejandro Manzano in the sixth.

Coming into the season, Level just missed being ranked in the overall Top 100, although he became the sixth 2026 newcomer to enter the list in April. His success in the early part of the campaign was reflected in last week's market corrections, when he jumped from No. 86 to 64.

Level signed for $997,500 out of Venezuela in 2024. In his stateside debut last year, he ranked second in the Arizona Complex League in total bases (108) and third in homers with nine. After being named the circuit's top prospect, he was part of two championship teams as both the ACL Giants and San Jose took home crowns.
