Middle infielder Josuar Gonzalez is likely far from his Major League debut at just 18 years old. Though the Giants' top prospect and MLB Pipeline’s No. 17 overall, continues to tear it up in Single-A San Jose.

Gonzalez tallied four hits and four RBIs with two steals against Lake Elsinore (Single-A San Diego) Saturday night to capture a 6-3 victory. The 18-year-old has been on fire since being promoted to San Jose on July 24, slashing .379/.476/.609 with 25 RBIs across 21 contests.

Gonzalez signed a minor league contract with the Giants in January 2025 out of San Cristobal, Dominican Republic, as the best position player available in the international class while signing for $2,997,500. He was a DSL NL All-Star at 17 years old before moving to the U.S. for the 2026 season.

The Arizona Complex League didn’t prove to be too much of a challenge for Gonzalez, as he batted .343 with a .966 OPS in 30 games before his promotion in late July. Gonzalez is a switch-hitter whose quick first steps and instincts have drawn comparisons to Francisco Lindor and Jose Reyes.

The Giants recently moved from No. 19 to No. 4 in the MLB Pipeline refreshed rankings, in part due to the success of Gonzalez. It’s the first time since the start of Pipeline’s rankings in 2015 that San Francisco has made the top five.
