Teams interested in acquiring Corey Kluber or Trevor Bauer surely hoped the new year would bring a different approach from the Indians in considering offers for their All-Star starting pitchers.
Instead, sources say the asking price for Kluber or Bauer is the same in 2019 that it was in the final weeks of '18.
Sources said on Sunday that the Indians have yet to move off their insistence on a Chris Sale-level return in any trade for Kluber or Bauer.
Kluber's agent, B.B. Abbott, told MLB Network Radio last week that he believes the closer Kluber is to reporting to Spring Training with the Indians, the less likely a trade becomes.

The Dodgers have had serious talks with the Indians about Kluber, sources say, but there are no signs of recent progress. The Indians have interest in Dodgers outfielder Alex Verdugo and likely would insist on a center fielder in any trade involving Kluber or Bauer.
The Padres, Brewers and Phillies also are possible landing spots for Kluber, according to sources. San Diego, in particular, has a collection of young position players who are of interest to Cleveland.
