BALTIMORE -- Blue Jays right fielder Jesús Sánchez exited Sunday’s game against the Orioles in the sixth inning holding his right throwing hand after he was hit by a ball thrown by a fan from the seats in right-center field at Camden Yards.
The game was paused as pitching coach Pete Walker paid a visit to Blue Jays reliever Hayden Juenger.
Suddenly, Sánchez had removed his glove and was clutching at his wrist area. He was visited by team personnel and exited the game, replaced by Yohendrick Piñango.
"We have identified the fan and removed them from the ballpark while we conduct a thorough investigation,” the Orioles said in a statement.
Sánchez has played in all but three of the Jays’ 60 games this season, primarily in right field but occasionally in left.
He’s currently slashing .287/.324./.461, and he had an RBI double in Saturday’s 6-5 defeat.
