Weaver leaves game with back spasms

JUPITER, Fla. -- Cardinals right-hander Luke Weaver got the first two batters out in the eighth inning of Wednesday's 6-1 win over the Mets at Roger Dean Stadium. Then his back began to spasm.
Taking no chances with the righty -- who is vying for the fifth spot in the starting rotation -- the Cardinals chose to end his day right there.
"He had a low back spasms," said Cardinals manager Mike Matheny after the game. "So, it was better to get him out than try to pitch through it."
Matheny said that this is the first he's heard of any back problems from Weaver.
"We'll get him looked at and get him some medical attention and see where it is tomorrow," Matheny said.
