Winning 3-2 over the Twins after an agonizing 12-game losing streak, the Mets had to be feeling a range of emotions Wednesday night. Reliever Luke Weaver, who earned the win by getting the final four outs, put those emotions on his sleeve.

Weaver riled up the Citi Field crowd with a postgame interview on the diamond. He was his usual, quotable self when describing the long-awaited W.

“A little bit of relief,” Weaver said, taking a moment to collect his thoughts. “Look, this [losing streak] wasn’t about attitude, this wasn’t about work ethic, this wasn’t about bad demeanor. There was none of that. It’s about just showing up every day, giving you [fans] something to cheer about. Thankfully, today, we freaking did that.”

Weaver, who closed the game in favor of the struggling Devin Williams, was then asked about his choice to go after Byron Buxton for the final out, rather than pitch around him. Buxton had already homered in the game, but Weaver worked a strikeout with a changeup below the zone.

“Look, people smell fear. I’m not the biggest guy in the room, but I ain’t scared of nobody,” said the 6-foot-2, 180-pound Weaver. “That’s the attitude I try to take. And if I screw up, it’s on me. But at the end of the day, I’m gonna sleep at night, and I’m gonna feel good about the effort I put it. I ain’t fearing nobody, you remember that.”

And let’s take a moment to appreciate the camera work from the SNY crew, which captured an epic shot of Weaver as flames shot out from center field to celebrate the win.
