A.J. Ewing had done a little bit of everything through first two weeks of first season except for one thing.

That is no longer the case.

The Mets' No. 3 prospect clubbed his first long ball of the season as part of another multihit performance during Double-A Binghamton's 3-1 loss to Erie on Thursday night at Mirabito Stadium.

Entering his first season as a Top 100 prospect, Ewing (No. 85) has been one of the most consistent hitters this month, not only in the Mets' organization but in all of the Minors. The 21-year-old beat out an infield single to first to lead off the home half of the first inning and cleared the center-field fence in the third to account for Binghamton's only run.

Ewing's last homer came last June 29 for High-A Brooklyn, a span of 71 games and 287 at-bats. Not known for his power, the 5-foot-10, 160-pounder went deep a career-high 10 times across two Minor League levels in 2023, but just three times in 564 plate appearances last year.

Ewing reached base a third time on his 13th walk in 15 games and proceeded to swipe his 10th base in 11 tries, tied for the second-highest total in the Eastern League.

While power might not be part of the Ohio native's game, he's had no problems collecting hits in bunches and getting on base. Ewing sports a career .287 average in nearly 900 Minor League games, but that figure jumps to .319 since the start of 2025.

A fourth-round compensation pick in 2023, Ewing put together a .315/.401/.429 slash line and finished fifth in the Minors with 70 stolen bases across three Minor League levels last year. Ewing has continued that level of productivity in 2026 by finding his way on base via the hit and the walk.

The 5-foot-9, 160-pounder opened the year with an eight-game hitting streak and has been held out of the hit column just three times in 15 games.

His early-season success has resulted in a .345 average, 12 runs scored, seven extra-base hits and a .980 OPS out of the leadoff spot for the Rumble Ponies.

Ewing has enjoyed his greatest success as a pro to date with Binghamton. Since earning his promotion to Double-A last Aug. 11, Ewing has compiled a slash line of .341/.401/.455 with 22 steals in 43 games.

A trip further upstate could be in the offing should he keep up his hot-hitting ways.
