There are various ways that MLB is celebrating America’s 250th birthday this Fourth of July.

In an America 250 promo video, MLB relied on some serious star power in the form of the late great musician Mac Miller and actor Miles Teller. Titled “For the People,” the video uses Miller’s “The Spins” to promote MLB games across the league on Saturday and Sunday, with voice narration from Teller.

Since many associate barbecuing, fireworks and time in the pool with the Fourth of July, the Pittsburgh-based Miller might be viewed as an interesting choice for celebrating America’s birthday.

“The best needle drops make people feel like they are seeing the sport in a slightly new way,” Steven Tyler, MLB’s senior director of global brand management told Vice. “‘The Spins’ has this instant feeling of joy and being outside that is reminiscent of a great day at the ballpark with friends. For a Fourth of July spot, especially one connected to America 250, we wanted something authentic to the experience of being at a baseball game in the summer.”

Miller, who died in 2018, was a Pittsburgh icon and has strong ties with the Pirates organization, which has celebrated his legacy in multiple ways. Teller, too, has a strong baseball connection with his fandom for the Phillies. The star actor grew up just outside of Philadelphia and has been frequently spotted at Phillies playoff games.
