MLB.com fantasy expert Fred Zinkie fielded questions from fans during a live Twitter chat (at @fantasy411) on Monday. Read through the best of the Q&A below. Questions and answers have been edited for clarity.
@TheRealConeKing: Should I drop Aledmys Díaz for Franklin Barreto?
Zinkie: Yes, Barreto has plenty of upside and Diaz seems unlikely to meet expectations this year.
@PeakEthan: Is it time to drop Julio Teheran? He has really struggled this year.
Zinkie: Yes, you can drop him in a 10-team league. And bench him in every mixed format.
@esfit22: Should I drop Carlos González, Mitch Haniger or Carlos Gómez for Keon Broxton?
Zinkie: You can drop Gonzalez for Broxton.
@michaelmerlo13: Would you trade Madison Bumgarner for Jacob deGrom right now?
Zinkie: Yes, I would. I'm optimistic on Bumgarner, but deGrom is healthy and pitching well right now.
@sritsema11: Should I trade Cody Bellinger for Jon Lester? I need pitching.
Zinkie: No, you should not. If you are trading Bellinger, you need to get a starter who is pitching very well right now.
@mheaps31: Is Ian Happ worthy of a roster spot over Ian Kinsler or Rougned Odor?
Zinkie: I would take Happ over Odor. Both players have plenty of upside, but Happ is playing much better than Odor right now.
@darrenlewis3: Is there any chance that Clint Frazier gets a chance to play for the Yankees in the coming weeks?
Zinkie: I don't expect that we will see Frazier soon. I expect Jacoby Ellsbury to replace Aaron Hicks in center field.
@MarkAPier: Should I add Franklin Barreto in a 12-team league?
Zinkie: Yes, for sure. Barreto should be added in all 12-team leagues and some 10-team formats.
@EzPolizzi_21: Which two should I add out of Aaron Altherr, Andrelton Simmons and Jose Pirela? Also, how long should I hold onto Kyle Schwarber?
Zinkie: I would add Altherr and Simmons. And you can drop Schwarber if he does not have catcher eligibility in your league.
@fanbball34: Should I drop Todd Frazier for Dansby Swanson?
Zinkie: No, you should stick with Frazier. He has posted an .865 OPS in June.
@McGuireGMM: What do you expect from Adrián Beltré during the remainder of the season?
Zinkie: I expect him to improve. He should hit for average and power. He is a nice buy-low target.
@manny24999: Should I own Hernán Pérez or Scooter Gennett? I hesitate to waive Perez, but Gennett is so hot right now.
Zinkie: You should stay with Perez. His steals have plenty of value.
@MAS8823: Would you trade Bradley Zimmer and Sean Newcomb for Corey Kluber?
Zinkie: Without a doubt. It is almost always a good idea to trade two exciting rookies for one established star.
@nmach10: Should I own Brett Gardner or Ian Happ for my last roster spot?
Zinkie: Happ has great potential, but you have to go with Gardner. He has been very productive this season.
@juliantharmsen: Please share your thoughts on Rick Porcello and Rich Hill.
Zinkie: I'm not buying low on either one. Of the two, I have more faith in Hill to bounce back this summer.
@TheAmeriKane: What should I do with Adam Jones?
Zinkie: Some owners seem down on Jones, but I disagree. He is hitting .270 and is on pace for more than 25 home runs.
@chinoandres7: Do you prefer Cody Allen or Fernando Rodney?
Zinkie: Definitely Allen. This one isn't close for me. Allen is simply a better pitcher.
@coreyparlove: Please rank Jon Gray, Eduardo Rodriguez and Marco Estrada.
Zinkie: Estrada, Gray, Rodriguez.
@Beeweeze: Please rank Homer Bailey, Rich Hill, Junior Guerra, Dinelson Lamet, Brandon Finnegan and Tyson Ross.
Zinkie: Hill, Guerra, Lamet, Ross, Finnegan, Bailey.
@SanFransFinest: Do you prefer Miguel Sanó or Jake Lamb?
Zinkie: I'll take Lamb. He has a better supporting cast. Hopefully he avoids a second-half fade this year.
@Jtrup22: How do you feel about Jon Gray going forward?
Zinkie: Start him for his road outings. If he is doing very well, you can consider him for some home starts.
