Jones tossed after first-inning K

BALTIMORE -- Orioles center fielder Adam Jones was ejected in the first inning of Friday's 1-0, 13-inning win against the Blue Jays, shortly after striking out.
Home-plate umpire Pat Hoberg tossed Jones from the game after the Orioles' cleanup hitter struck out swinging on a 95-mph fastball from Blue Jays starter Joe Biagini with runners on the corners and one out. Jones had objected to a called strike two earlier in the at-bat and continued to voice his dissatisfaction from the dugout.
With Trey Mancini already in the batter's box, Hoberg called time and yelled back to the Orioles' dugout. Manager Buck Showalter stepped in front of Jones to keep him out of Hoberg's eyeline, but when Jones continued to protest, Hoberg tossed him.
Showalter then confronted Hoberg near home plate, but he remained in the game. This was Jones' second career ejection, having earned his first on May 3 at Boston.
"It's not like he's up there around the plate area arguing anything," Showalter said. "He walked away, he's in the dugout, you're a pitch away from moving on to the next hitter. It's unfortunate. I don't like it to happen. Adam doesn't. I don't know everything that was said." 
Craig Gentry replaced Jones in center field to begin the second inning, struck out in the third, then was replaced on defense by Joey Rickard to start the fourth because of a lacerated right middle finger.
"A specialist will see him [Saturday] or Sunday," Showalter said, adding that the finger is not displaced. "We'll have a better idea [of the severity] in the next day or two." 
Jones re-emerged postgame so he could give walk-off hero Jonathan Schoop the celebratory shaving cream pie to the face.
