Adam Jones, who last played in the Majors in 2019, is set to retire as an Oriole in a pregame ceremony on Sept. 15 at Camden Yards.

It’s been nearly five years since Jones last suited up for the Orioles, but he’ll forever hold a special place with the franchise after spending 11 years playing in Baltimore.

Jones ranks among the top 10 in Orioles history in games played (1,613), hits (1,781), homers (263), doubles (305), RBIs (866) and runs scored (875).

The San Diego native was selected by the Mariners with the 37th overall pick in the 2003 MLB Draft, but he only appeared in 73 games with Seattle before the club shipped him to the Orioles with right-hander Chris Tillman, left-hander George Sherrill and two others in a 2008 trade for southpaw Erik Bedard.

Jones became a cornerstone player for the O’s after the deal, earning five All-Star selections, winning four Gold Glove Awards in center field and helping Baltimore reach the playoffs in 2012, '14 and '16.

During this time, Jones ushered in the Orioles’ tradition of celebrating walk-off wins with a pie to the face.

Jones also played for Team USA in the 2013 and '17 World Baseball Classics. In '17, Jones memorably robbed then-Orioles-teammate Manny Machado of a home run as the United States defeated the Dominican Republic in a second-round matchup to reach the semifinals. Team USA went on to win its first WBC title.

Jones spent the final season of his MLB career with the D-backs in 2019 before playing in Japan for two years.
