Anthony Eyanson has only continued his excellent professional debut since being traded to the Orioles in the Adley Rutschman deal, and he reached new heights on Thursday.
Eyanson threw a career-high seven innings, allowing just one run while striking out eight. He did not walk a batter and allowed five hits in the outing. Eyanson took the loss despite his stellar start, with Double-A Chesapeake falling, 2-0, to Richmond at Prince George’s Stadium.
Eyanson retired 15 of the first 17 batters he faced, with the lone hits in that run a pair of infield singles. He only ran into trouble in the sixth inning, as Richmond recorded back-to-back ground-ball singles, with runners reaching second and third on a throwing error. Gavin Kilen (Giants) then singled home what became the game-winning run, though he was thrown out trying to stretch it to a double.
Eyanson buckled down in the seventh. He worked yet another 1-2-3 inning, ending his career day with a pair of strikeouts.
Baltimore’s No. 2 prospect and MLB Pipeline’s No. 49 prospect overall, Eyanson now has a 1.58 ERA over 19 appearances in 2026, including 118 strikeouts in 85 2/3 innings. The 2025 third-round Draft pick has additionally not allowed more than two runs in each of three starts since joining the Orioles’ system.
