Tillman resumes throwing program
DUNEDIN, Fla. -- Orioles starter Chris Tillman threw from 60-90 feet on Sunday, his first time resuming a throwing program since suffering a setback earlier this spring, and the plan is for him to repeat that on Tuesday.
Tillman, dealing with a right shoulder injury, will not be ready for the start of the season and will be on the disabled list. But manager Buck Showalter said on Sunday that the right-hander will travel north with the team to be part of the Opening Day festivities and continue his rehab in Baltimore. Tillman could return to Florida when the team goes on the road.
Worth noting
• Seth Smith, who made his lineup return on Saturday, went 3-for-4 with no health issues in an intrasquad game on Sunday morning. He had been slowed by a hamstring injury.
• Outfielder Chris Dickerson, who has been slowed by a sore left shoulder, is expected to make his return to the lineup on Monday.
