Indians center fielder Oscar Mercado's game-saving grab in the top of the ninth inning against the White Sox on Wednesday has been recognized as the Play of the Week presented by W.B. Mason.

With Cleveland holding an 8-6 lead and the bases loaded, Eloy Jiménez laced a 110.8-mph liner to center that likely would have given Chicago the lead if not for Mercado, who made an amazing leaping catch before sprawling onto the grass.

Thinking the ball was going to fly over Mercado's head, José Abreu didn't tag up from third and had to retreat after the catch. As a result, no runs came home.

Nick Wittgren then fanned Ryan Goins for the final out, stranding the bases loaded and giving the Indians a crucial win in the midst of their postseason chase.
