SAN DIEGO -- While the Padres did not play Sunday's scheduled game with the Dodgers due to rain, the club did still have some activity.
San Diego placed backup catcher Héctor Sánchez on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to May 6, with a right foot contusion. Sanchez left Friday night's game after a foul ball hit his foot and he limped off the field. In 18 games for the Padres this season, Sanchez is batting .091 with one home run and three RBIs.
The club recalled right-hander Kevin Quackenbush from Triple-A El Paso in a corresponding move. This marks the third time this season Quackenbush has been recalled from the Minors. In four games, Quackenbush has not allowed a run over five innings and has recorded eight strikeouts.
With Sanchez unavailable, the Padres -- who began the season with four catchers on the roster -- are down to starting catcher Austin Hedges and reserve Luis Torrens at the catching position.
