In 2013 was a mid-season Texas League All-Star...in 2012 was MiLB.com's Relief Pitcher of the Year, a California League All-Star and MiLB.com Organizational All-Star...also in 2012 was an Arizona Fall League Rising Star and member of that prestigious league's All-Prospect team...attended Jesuit High School in Tampa, where he pitched no-hitters as a junior and senior...in 2011 established the University of South Florida single-season record for relievers with a 0.80 ERA...with 12 saves that season led the Big East while ranking 13th nationally and was named to the All-Big East second team.
Assigned to the Louisville Bats after signing a contract with the Cincinnati Reds... Made the opening day roster for Cincinnati and made 10 appearances in the major leagues for the Reds... In 47 games with Louisville, went 1-2 with a 2.68 ERA (14 ER/47.0 IP) and 56 strikeouts against just 11 walks and recorded 25 saves.
Made 20 relief apps for the Padres and 22 relief apps for Class AAA El Paso...in August spent a week on the disabled list with a left knee injury suffered while fielding a grounder on 8/23...on 9/1 was designated for assignment...5 days later cleared waivers and was outrighted to El Paso...became a free agent following the season and on 10/30 was signed by the Reds to a minor league contract with an invitation to 2018 Major League spring training camp.
Set career highs in several categories, including wins (seven), innings pitched (59.2), appearances (60) after he posted a 7-7 record with two saves, a 3.92 ERA (26 ER, 59.2 IP), 42 strikeouts against 22 walks while limiting the opposition to a .242 (55-for-227) batting average...Made his first career Opening Day roster…optioned to Triple-A El Paso on 5/24 and recalled on 6/4…optioned back to El Paso on 7/24 and recalled again 8/16 and remained with the Major League club for the rest of 2016...Recorded two saves for the Padres in 2016 (8/27 at Miami and 9/13 vs. SF), his first saves since the 2014 campaign when he converted six of his seven save opportunities...In nine relief appearances for El Paso, posted a 1-0 record with a 2.08 ERA (3 ER, 13.0 IP), 16 strikeouts against two walks and converted both of his two save opportunities.

Split the season between Triple-A El Paso and San Diego, pitching to a 3-3 record with a 2.48 ERA (15 ER, 54.1 IP) and six saves in 56 games in his Major League debut...Selected from Triple-A El Paso on 4/25 and made his Major League debut that night, allowing two runs on two hits with a strikeout and a walk over 1.2 innings at WSH...Overall, recalled to the big leagues five times, all of which came in a 22-day span from 4/25 to 5/17...Earned his first career win on 5/27 at ARI after working 1.1 scoreless innings… recorded his first save on 8/20 at LAD...His six saves during the 2014 season were tied for the fifth-most in franchise history by a rookie pitcher behind only Butch Metzger in 1976 (16), Luis DeLeon in 1982 (15), Al Severinsen in 1971 (8) and Dale Thayer in 2012 (7)...His 56 strikeouts were tied for the 10th-most in franchise history by a rookie reliever while his 9.28 strikeouts per nine innings were the sixth-best in franchise history by a rookie relief pitcher...Also recorded 10 holds, making him one of two Padres rookie pitchers since 1994 to record 6+ saves and 10+ holds in the same season, joining Dale Thayer in 2012 (seven saves, 22 holds)…overall, he was the 10th National League pitcher to accomplish this feat and 17th Major League pitcher to do so...Posted a 1.26 ERA (2 ER, 14.1 IP) and six saves in 13 games for El Paso.
Continued his ascent in the organization splitting his season between Class-AA San Antonio and Triple-A Tucson, posting a 10-2 record with a 1.66 ERA (12 ER, 65.0 IP)...Opened the campaign with San Antonio and dominated the Texas League, allowing just one earned run and two extra-base hits (1 double, 1 home run) in 31.0 innings and was named to league's All-Star squad...did not play due to promotion to Tucson...Did not allow an earned run in 14.0 innings on the road for San Antonio while allowing just seven hits in 60 at bats to right-handed batters...After early struggles following promotion to Tucson (6.75 ERA over fi rst fi ve outings), posted a 1.98 ERA over his final 23 appearances.
