Jason Delay was held hitless (0-for-2), but reached base twice via walks. Delay is 0-for-17 over his past five games and hitting under .100 in the AFL. Blake Cederlind threw one inning out of the Peoria bullpen and gave up a pair of runs (both unearned) on two hits. Cederlind did notch a pair of strikeouts and finishes his AFL campaign with a 1.13 ERA over eight innings. Nick Mears gave up a hit, but that was the extent of the damage against him as he fired a scoreless inning of relief.

Oct. 23: Peoria 6, Scottsdale 1 Jared Oliva has raked throughout the Fall League, but didn’t have much success on Wednesday, finishing 0-for-4. Cody Ponce threw five innings of one-run ball in his final start of the AFL season. Ponce, who threw 56 of his 78 pitches for strikes, didn’t issue a walk and struck out eight, the most of any of his five starts in Arizona. The right-hander pitched around baserunners in four of his five innings, but was able to generate strikeouts when necessary to escape trouble. Ponce struck out the side in the fourth and fanned five of the final nine batters he faced.
