Report: Hechavarria wins arbitration case

ST. PETERSBURG -- Adeiny Hechavarría has reportedly won his arbitration hearing with the Rays and will earn a salary of $5.9 million for the 2018 season, according to USA Today. The club has not commented.
The team's offer to the slick-fielding shortstop had been $5.35 million. Hechavarria made $4.35 million in 2017. The hearing took place on Friday.
Hechavarria came to the Rays in a June 26 trade with the Marlins in exchange for Minor Leaguers Ethan Clark and Braxton Lee.
In 77 games for the Rays, Hechavarria hit .257 with seven home runs and 24 RBIs. He hit .277 with a home run and six RBIs in 20 games for the Marlins in 2017.
With Hechavarria's case closed, Jake Odorizzi remains the only player left to go to arbitration. The right-hander is asking for $6.3 million and the team has offered $6.050 million. Odorizzi's hearing will take place on Feb. 12.
