There's probably no sweeter sauce than the one Alfredo Duno has been cooking with at the plate.
MLB's No. 23 prospect served up his second grand slam in the past three games at High-A. The Reds' right-handed-hitting catcher helped fuel Dayton's 17-1 victory over Fort Wayne at Day Air Ballpark.
Duno connected on his Sunday grand slam with two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning. The 20-year-old took the first pitch for a ball before pulling the second over the left-field wall against southpaw Braian Salazar (Padres). In Saturday's 10-6 loss, Duno got behind 0-2 before slugging a grand slam to left-center off righty Abraham Parra.
MLB's second-ranked catching prospect has homered in three of his past five games with 13 RBIs over that span. Last month, he drove in 17 runs across 22 contests. Just halfway through June, Duno has produced 15 RBIs.
In a game called in the bottom of the seventh due to rain, the Reds' top prospect partook of a power shower as well. Alfredo Alcantara (CIN No. 29) accounted for two of the long balls in the first multihomer game of his professional career. Carlos Sanchez (CIN No. 25) hit a leadoff long ball as well.
Duno stands just three homers shy of his career high in home runs for a single season. The native of Miranda, Venezuela, tagged 18 across 113 games last year at Single-A Daytona. Through 55 contests in 2026, he’s slashing .263/.382/.531 with 15 long balls -- tied with Héctor Rodríguez (CIN No. 5) for the second-most in Cincinnati's system this season behind Michael Toglia (17).
