CINCINNATI -- The Reds made their first move to add veteran help to their bullpen on Wednesday when they signed right-handed reliever Kevin Quackenbush to a Minor League contract, according to a source.
The club has not confirmed Quackenbush's deal, but it comes with an invitation to big league camp at Spring Training.

Quackenbush, 28, spent all four of his Major League seasons with the Padres, and he had a 4.08 ERA over 193 appearances. Last season for San Diego, he was 0-2 with a 7.86 ERA in 26 1/3 innings over 20 games.
In 22 games at Triple-A El Paso in 2017, Quackenbush had a 3.90 ERA.
Although he has a 1.29 career WHIP, Quackenbush struggled last season with a 1.82 mark that included an average of 5.5 walks per nine innings.
Cincinnati heads into 2018 with two relievers assured jobs in closer Raisel Iglesias and lefty setup man Wandy Peralta. The team is looking for both veteran relievers and a veteran starter to bolster the rotation.
Worth noting
• The Reds and Triple-A Louisville announced on Wednesday that they extended their player-development agreement through the 2020 season. The current deal was set to expire after the '18 season.
