Lately, the only thing that has slowed Ethan Holliday down was a hit-by-pitch.

The Rockies No. 1 prospect (No. 19 overall) took a fastball off his left elbow on Thursday and left the game soon after, then was held out Friday. But he returned Saturday and didn’t miss a beat.

Holliday went 3-for-4 with a homer, a walk and four RBIs for Single-A Fresno against the Ports at Banner Island Ballpark, continuing a sizzling stretch that has increased his slash line on the year to .262/.419/.492.

Saturday marked the first home run Holliday has hit against a right-handed pitcher in 2026. The lefty slugger owns a 1.015 OPS against same-sided hurlers and an .858 OPS against righties.

Over his past 13 games, the shortstop has gone 13-for-41 (.317) with four homers, 12 walks, 17 RBIs and a 1.157 OPS, showing the type of potential that made him one of the top prospects in the 2025 MLB Draft.

Being a fourth overall pick comes with plenty of pressure on its own -- but the expectations run even higher for Holliday thanks to his family ties. His father Matt was a Rockies cornerstone for years, and his older brother Jackson went first overall to Baltimore in 2022.

It remains to be seen how aggressively the Rockies will push Holliday through their system. At 19 years old, he’s nearly two and a half years younger than the average Single-A player and has yet to face a pitcher younger than himself through 86 plate appearances this season.

Regardless, this hot streak is a good sign for Colorado. Holliday posted a .737 OPS with 33 K’s over 84 PAs spanning 18 games for Fresno in 2025, then started off this season by striking out in 12 of his first 34 plate appearances. But his recent surge suggests he's starting to settle in.
