Braves' Acuna, Allard lead top prospect performers

There's a lot of hype and excitement surrounding the Braves' farm system these days, and a pair of Top 100 prospects belonging to Atlanta put their tools on display Wednesday in a 6-4 loss to the Mets.
Atlanta's farm system will be ranked among the top 10, which MLB Pipeline is unveiling this week, and Ronald Acuña Jr. and Kolby Allard are a big reason why.
Acuna, the No. 2 overall prospect, enters the 2018 season with plenty of fanfare after bursting onto the scene in 2017. The 20-year-old got off to a slow start, going 0-for-7 over his first two games, but he went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a stolen base against the Mets and now has three hits in his last six at-bats.
Allard, the No. 58 overall prospect, also fared well against the Mets, as he threw a pair of hitless innings in his second Spring Training outing. The 20-year-old lefty did struggle a bit with command as he walked two and hit a batter, but he put up a pair of zeroes and hasn't allowed a run in three innings.
Other top prospect performances from Wednesday's action:
• No. 27 overall prospect Lewis Brinson appears to be enjoying playing for his hometown team. The Florida native went 2-for-2 with a double and is hitting .400 through five games in a Marlins jersey.

• No. 35 overall prospect Scott Kingery showed he had some pop in his bat last season, and the trend appears to be carrying over to 2018. After hitting a combined eight homers in 2015-16, Kingery exploded for a career-high 26 homers in 2017. It's only Spring Training, but the 23-year-old went 1-for-3 with a homer on Wednesday and has gone deep in back-to-back games.
• No. 68 overall prospect Fernando Romero (Twins No. 2) made quick work of the Astros, as he faced just six batters over two scoreless innings. Romero, who hasn't given up a hit over four Spring Training innings, walked one but promptly erased the runner with a ground-ball double play.
• No. 81 overall prospect Christian Arroyo enjoyed a perfect 3-for-3 day at the plate, boosting his average to .444 in his first Spring Training with the Rays. Arroyo, who was traded from the Giants in the offseason, missed most of the final few months of 2017 as he was twice hit in the hand by pitches and eventually had surgery in November.
• Astros No. 8 prospect David Paulino has yet to give up a run after firing 2 2/3 scoreless frames against the Twins. Paulino walked two but also struck out a pair and didn't give up a hit.

• Dodgers No. 9 prospect Will Smith collected his first hits of Spring Training after getting off to an 0-for-5 start. Smith, who finished 2-for-2, came through with a pair of extra-base hits, as he doubled in the second and hit a solo homer in the fifth.

• Rockies No. 10 prospect Yency Almonte needed to face just nine batters as he carved his way through three innings against the D-backs. Almonte, who posted a 2.91 ERA in 22 games across two levels last season, struck out two and has given up one run in five innings this spring.
• Cardinals No. 12 prospect Yairo Muñoz has caught fire at the plate. Munoz hit a pair of homers, both in the seventh inning, as part of a 3-for-5, four-RBI day. Munoz became the first Cardinal to go deep twice in an inning since Fernando Tatis did it on April 23, 1999, and the first player to do it since Mark Trumbo (Orioles) did it on April 15, 2016. In addition to the homers, Munoz hit a single and is 6-for-10 over the past two days.
• Athletics No. 13 prospect Greg Deichmann is off to a perfect start in his first Spring Training. Deichmann, whom the A's selected in the second round of the 2017 Draft, went 2-for-2 in his first game action on Tuesday and followed that up by going 1-for-1 with his first homer on Wednesday.
• Indians prospects Bobby Bradley (No. 3) and Shawn Morimando (No. 30) turned in strong performances in opposite sides of split-squad action. Bradley, in a game against the Angels, drove in two runs via a fourth-inning triple as part of a 2-for-3 afternoon. Morimando took the ball against the Mariners and struck out three in two shutout innings.
