Newly beardless Odor almost unrecognizable

We've seen it before: A player comes to the Yankees and shaves their distinctive facial hair or trims their trademark coif to abide by the team's famous policy. But few players have undergone as complete a transformation as new Yankees infielder Rougned Odor.

Odor, who was traded to New York on Wednesday after seven years with the Rangers, boasted an impressive beard by the end of his Texas tenure. But seeking a fresh start with a new team, the 27-year-old went with a fresh look and shaved the beard completely off before he was activated by the team on Saturday.

Social media lit up as pictures of Odor's newly beardless face circulated, with fans and media alike impressed with the remarkable change. But it might have been a member of the Odor family who was most shocked.

"My daughter didn't even want to look at me," Odor said on Sunday morning.

Some wonderful whiskers have bitten the dust as a result of the Yankees' no-beard policy, but if the rule melts away a decade of age like Odor did, maybe there's something to it after all.
