Martin, Grichuk go back-to-back vs. Orioles

TORONTO -- The Blue Jays hit back-to-back home runs for the third time this season when Russell Martin and Randal Grichuk each went deep during the fifth inning of Friday night's 8-7, 10-inning win against the Orioles.
Martin opened the inning vs. Baltimore right-hander Dylan Bundy with a shot to left field on the first pitch he saw. Three pitches later, Grichuk added his 12th home run of the season with a deep drive to left-center field.

Martin also was involved in one of Toronto's other back-to-back moments earlier this year. On April 6 at Texas, Martin and Yangervis Solarte hit consecutive homers while Teoscar Hernández and Solarte accomplished the feat on June 17 against Washington.

According to Statcast™, Martin's seventh of the year was projected to travel 392 feet and left his bat at 102.3 mph. Grichuk's solo shot was projected to travel 414 feet and left his bat at 106.2 mph.
"I thought he was a little bit off," Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said of Bundy. "He has one of the best breaking balls in baseball, but I thought he might have been a little bit off. ... Some guys are sharp coming out of the break, some aren't.
"We never like to face him, I know that, but I thought we battled him pretty good. Of course, those home runs are always big with Russ and Grich back-to-back, that's hard to do. That doesn't happen very often."
Before the inning was over, Toronto added two more runs. Devon Travis walked, Curtis Granderson doubled and a run scored on a sacrifice fly by Hernandez. Justin Smoak followed with an RBI double as Toronto jumped in front, 5-2.
The back-and-forth game featured fireworks on both sides, with the Orioles mashing four homers of their own.
