As the Dodgers look to complete a sweep of the Blue Jays on Wednesday to conclude a rematch of the 2025 World Series, Shohei Ohtani also looks to continue a historic streak that only he could pull off.

Ohtani currently boasts MLB’s longest active on-base streak at 42 games, extending the run with a third-inning RBI single in Tuesday’s 4-1 Dodgers win.

He also holds an active regular-season scoreless pitching streak that runs 22 2/3 innings, dating back to Aug. 27, 2025, as he closed the year with 16 2/3 scoreless across four outings. But it’s not baseball’s longest. That belongs to Mason Miller -- at 25 2/3 innings -- after starting 2026 with four scoreless appearances.

Ohtani takes the mound for the second time this season against the Blue Jays at 3:07 p.m. ET on Wednesday in Toronto. Can he reclaim the top scoreless innings streak amid one of MLB’s most fun early storylines of 2026? And will his on-base streak continue?

The Dodgers have stifled the Blue Jays in the first two games of the series, allowing just three total runs in 18 innings. Ohtani was lights out in his first outing of the year, too, going six innings of one-hit ball against the Guardians on March 31. However, Toronto tagged Ohtani when it last saw him in the Fall Classic, posting seven runs, 11 hits and two home runs in 8 1/3 innings.

Meanwhile, the Blue Jays will throw Dylan Cease for the third time this season. He’s had an excellent start, allowing just three earned runs in 9 2/3 innings while striking out 18.
