Stevens' walk-off slam extends Missions' streak

Third baseman River Stevens hit a walk-off grand slam Tuesday night as Double-A San Antonio won its fifth straight game, and right-handers Carlos Pimentel and Michael Dimock combined on a two-hit shutout, as Triple-A El Paso scored a 6-0 win at Tacoma.
Meanwhile, the Padres announced Chris Paddack, the right-handed pitcher acquired from the Marlins in the Fernando Rodney trade, is out indefinitely with a right forearm strain suffered while preparing to pitch Monday night for Class A Fort Wayne.
Pimentel (10-5, 5.68 ERA) allowed one hit and two walks with four strikeouts over six innings, as El Paso improved to 59-44. Dimock (4.02 ERA) allowed one hit over three scoreless innings to complete the shutout and pick up his third save.
Infielder Diego Goris (.291) hit a two-run homer for the Chihuahuas. Catcher Austin Hedges (.361) was 1-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored. Designated hitter Héctor Sánchez (.433) had a two-run double in four at-bats. Second baseman Carlos Asuaje (.328) and shortstop Nick Noonan (.322) were each 1-for-3 with a RBI and a run scored.
Stevens' homer in the bottom of the 10th gave the Missions a 6-2 win over Corpus Christi in San Antonio. Stevens (.267) was 3-for-5 with two runs scored and the four RBIs on the walk-off grand slam. Right fielder Nick Schulz (.282) hit his sixth homer, a two-run shot, in four at-bats.
Starting right-hander Seth Simmons (2.22 ERA) allowed one run on five hits and three walks with six strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings as San Antonio improved to 17-15 in the second half and 39-63 overall.
Left-hander Brad Wieck (0.87 ERA) hit a batter and allowed one run in one-third of an inning. Right-hander Adam Cimber (2.37 ERA) allowed one hit in one-third of an inning. Right-hander Yimmi Brasoban (2.08 ERA) struck out one in 2 1/3 perfect innings. Right-hander Jason Jester (2-1, 2.54 ERA) struck out one in a perfect top of the 10th.

SHORT SEASON TRI-CITY (0-1, 19-20)-- SPOKANE 5, DUST DEVILS 4: 1B Wilfri De La Cruz (.278) was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored for Tri-City, which lost the first-half division title in the Northwest League's North Division the previous night. 3B Westhers Magdaleno (.267) was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Starting LHP Will Headean (2-3, 5.35 ERA) allowed four earned runs on five hits and one walk with seven strikeouts in six innings. RHP Nick Monroe (3.00) allowed one hit in a scoreless inning. LHP Nathan Foriest (3.35) allowed two hits in a scoreless inning.
