Padres utility man Sung-Mun Song is ready to make his MLB debut -- just in time for the 2026 Mexico City Series.

Song was recalled from Triple-A El Paso on Saturday. He will be San Diego's 27th man for its two-game series against the Diamondbacks in Mexico City. Saturday’s first pitch from Estadio Alfredo Harp Helú is scheduled for 3:05 p.m. PT

Song was one of San Diego’s biggest acquisitions of the offseason. He signed a four-year deal in December, but his start to 2026 was delayed by a right oblique strain suffered in Spring Training.

The 29-year-old began the season on the injured list and then played 20 games with El Paso before being called up. The lefty hitter compiled a .293/.369/.320 slash line across 84 plate appearances with the Chihuahuas.

Song hit 26 homers, stole 25 bases and had a .917 OPS last season for the KBO’s Kiwoom Heroes and was voted the league’s Player of the Year. In 2024, Song had 19 home runs and 21 steals in 142 games while recording a .340 average and a career-high .927 OPS.
