Walker won't take No. 00 from Mr. Met

Starting pitcher Taijuan Walker joined the Mets this offseason on a two-year deal. He'll slot nicely into the rotation that already packs the star-power of Jacob deGrom, Carlos Carrasco, Noah Syndergaard and Marcus Stroman.

But there was one question regarding Walker that needed to be answered. The 28-year-old wore No. 00 for the Blue Jays in 2020 and, unfortunately, one of the most important Mets has also donned that number for years. You might recognize him.

Walker has had to give up his uniform numbers to teammates in the past -- No. 44 to Paul Goldschmidt and No. 99 to Hyun Jin Ryu -- but what would he do now? He'd do the right thing, that's what.

Nothing but respect for the man with a giant baseball for a head.
