Gonsolin sent down after save; Floro activated

DENVER -- The Dodgers sent rookie Tony Gonsolin back to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Wednesday, the day after his four-inning save, part of a plan that included the activation of reliever Dylan Floro from the injured list.

Gonsolin was called up Tuesday to be a fresh arm at Coors Field, where bullpens are usually heavily utilized. He more than did his job, making up for a rocky spot start by Julio Urias. Gonsolin threw 49 pitches and likely would have been unavailable over the next five days.

Gonsolin is the Dodgers’ No. 6 prospect, according to MLB Pipeline, and scouts suggested that his Tuesday night appearance might have served as a showcase on the eve of the Trade Deadline.

Floro, who last appeared July 18, returns from a sore neck.
