Moncada, Devers, Brinson hit 1st career HRs

As the urban legend goes, big things come in threes. That was the case Wednesday, as top prospects Yoán Moncada (White Sox), Rafael Devers (Red Sox) and Lewis Brinson (Brewers) all hit their first career homers within hours of each other.
Rated No. 1, No. 4 and No. 15 on MLB Pipeline's Top 100 Prospects list, respectively, the group hit a trio of impressive shots, all of which were no-doubters.
Devers, 20, began things in the afternoon with the hardest-hit ball of the three, and he did it on his first career hit. The Red Sox third baseman led off the third inning by barreling a fastball that Seattle's Andrew Moore left over the plate 427 feet to center field.

Devers' blast left his bat at 108.5 mph, according to Statcast™. He became the youngest Red Sox hitter to hit a home run since 1965, and was the first to have his first career hit be a homer since Daniel Nava in 2010.

Brinson, 23, showed Devers up, as he hit the ball nearly as hard, and much farther. The Brewers center fielder was called up for his second Major League stint earlier in the day, and then took Nationals reliever Sean Doolittle deep in the ninth inning on a fastball over the plate that Brinson hit 461 feet with an exit velocity of 108.1 mph.
Moncada, 22, was recalled for his first stint with the White Sox last Wednesday, and went deep in his seventh game. The switch-hitting second baseman fell behind 0-2 to Cubs starter Jake Arrieta, but then blasted a curveball 417 feet to center field for a solo shot.

All three home runs were barreled balls and had hit probabilities of at least 90 percent, according to Statcast™.
This was the second time this season that three players hit their first career home runs on the same day. On June 24, Franklin Barreto, Jaycob Brugman and Matt Olson all went deep for the A's, while pitcher Ben Lively homered for the Phillies.
