NEW YORK -- Royals manager Matt Quatraro indicated that first baseman Vinnie Pasquantino will likely come off the 10-day injured list and play in the series opener against the Orioles on Friday night at Camden Yards. Pasquantino has missed almost a month because of a right hamate bone fracture. At the time of the injury, Pasquantino was hitting .224 with six home runs and 32 RBIs.
How did he perform?
Pasquantino went hitless in three at-bats, but had two walks during his appearance with Triple-A Omaha in a 12-8 loss to Louisville on Wednesday. In two rehab starts, Pasquantino is 2-for-6 with an RBI.
“He feels like he is ready to go,” Quatraro said.
What’s next?
Pasquantino is expected to play his last rehab game for Omaha on Thursday night.
“He is trying to see pitches and judge his health,” Quatraro said. “He is not making any swing adjustments.”
What are they saying?
“When you go through injuries, a lot of it is the mindset,” Quatraro said. “Right away, Vinnie's goal is to get back as quickly as possible. We saw him do that when he had that really bad thumb injury [in 2024]. He is a guy that knows how to deal with the mental part of it, which is just as big as the physical.”

What else?
The Royals could use Pasquantino’s production at the plate. At the time of his injury, Pasquantino was hitting with consistency. He was on an eight-game hitting streak and was slashing .298/.365/.426 with a home run and seven RBIs in June.
