Virtual Night of Champions announced for 2021
LUBBOCK, Texas — College baseball is back and that means so is the College Baseball Night of Champions, although it again will be a virtual event.
The annual Night of Champions, a program of the College Baseball Foundation, will debut on June 26 on www.collegebaseballhall.org.
The event will feature the induction of the 2021 class of the National College Baseball Hall of Fame as well as the presentation of the CBF’s annual awards — the National Pitcher of the Year, John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year, Brooks Wallace Shortstop of the Year, Skip Bertman National Coach of the Year and the National Collegiate Umpire Award.
“We are so excited to be able to host a full Night of Champions event, even though it will be virtual again this year,” said Mike Gustafson, president/CEO of the College Baseball Foundation. “We can’t wait to honor this year’s class of Hall of Famers and award winners. Our past inductees and award winners continue to talk about how much this means to them and I’m sure this year’s group will feel the same.”
The 2021 Virtual Night of Champions again will be hosted by Dani Wexelman, who hosted the 2020 event. Wexelman currently works as a host for MLB Network Radio on SiriusXM. She previously has worked for Major League Baseball and various professional sports teams.
“Dani does a great job with our event,” Gustafson said. “She has such a wonderful ability to make everyone feel comfortable, like they’re really sitting across from each other during the interviews. She loves baseball and its history, and that comes through in every aspect of her presentation for our event. We’re thrilled to have her host the show again this year.”
The 2021 NCBHOF class will be announced in April. The award winners will be announced in June.
About the College Baseball Foundation/Hall of Fame
The College Baseball Foundation and National College Baseball Hall of Fame, based in Lubbock, Texas, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to recognizing and preserving the history of college baseball. In addition to the annual induction of the Hall of Fame class, the organization presents numerous awards to current college baseball players, coaches and umpires during its annual Night of Champions event. The organization was founded in 2004 and the first Hall of Fame class was inducted in 2006.
