Washington Nationals acquire right-handed pitcher Andre Granillo
The Washington Nationals acquired right-handed pitcher Andre Granillo from the St. Louis Cardinals in exchange for right-handed pitcher George Soriano on Tuesday. Nationals President of Baseball Operations Paul Toboni made the announcement.
Granillo, 25, pitched in 14 games for the Cardinals after making his Major League debut in 2025. He went 1-0 with a 4.71 ERA and 18 strikeouts in 21.0 innings, including four scoreless outings to begin his Major League career, holding opponents to just a .118 average against (2-for-17).
Originally a 14th-round pick by the Cardinals out of the University of California, Riverside in 2021, Granillo struck out 58 in 42.0 innings and held opponents to a .144 average while pitching to a 1.29 ERA in 29 games for Triple-A Memphis last season. Granillo’s 7.71 baserunners per 9.0 innings ranked ninth, and his 0.83 walks/hits per inning pitched ranked tied for 12th among all Minor League pitchers in 2025 (min. 40.0 IP).
A native of Hemet, Calif., Granillo is 22-15 with a 3.55 ERA and 31 saves in five Minor League seasons. He has struck out 332 in 245.2 innings and held opponents to a .189 batting average in those 183 games.
To make room on the 40-man roster, Trevor Williams was placed on the 60-day Injured List.
