Double-A Wichita brought out the big bats on Thursday.

The Wind Surge (Double-A affiliate of the Twins) crushed 10 home runs in their matchup against the Amarillo Sod Poodles (D-backs) in a 19-7 win. Seven different Wind Surge hitters went yard, including three homers from leadoff hitter Garrett Spain and a pair from Billy Amick (Minnesota's No. 24 prospect).

While HODGETOWN, home of the Sod Poodles, is an undeniable hitter’s paradise, 10 home runs in a game is still rare in Minor League Baseball. Dating back to 2005, there have only been four other teams to reach that mark in a game, most recently done by Triple-A Omaha on August 23, 2025.

"Insane night," Wichita hitting coach Andrew Cresci told MLB.com via text message. "When last season’s team hit seven [on July 22], I didn’t think I’d witness a better show, but here they are with 10. These guys have crushed it so far this season in both their preparation and execution. Extremely proud of these guys and I’m looking forward to seeing what this group can do."

And for curious minds, the 1987 Blue Jays are the only MLB team to hit 10 home runs in a game in the Modern Era (since 1900). Toronto did so on Sept. 14, 1987, against the Orioles in an 18-3 win.
