Hope they'll play "Hot To Go" at a Minor League Baseball game? You're probably about to get your wish.
The Springfield Cardinals are paying tribute to a hometown kid made good with Chappell Roan Night on Wednesday, Aug. 27. Roan was born in nearby Willard, Mo., and her roots are reflected in the name of her 2023 breakout album "The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess."
Roan is not expected to attend the game, but she sent the team a message expressing appreciation for the promo.
"Hello! It's Chappell Roan. I'm so excited and it's so awesome that there is a Chappell Roan Night, and it's such an honor," the multi-platinum popstar said in a video posted to the Double-A Cardinals' social media.
The evening is on track to be a multi-faceted celebration of all things Chappell Roan, with promises of Chappell Roan-themed games between innings and an official Chappell Roan Midwest Princess camo hat that can be acquired with the purchase of a theme ticket. Roan's family is scheduled to throw out the first pitch, and the team will wear specially made jerseys inspired by the Springfield-shot "Hot to Go" music video.
Those jerseys will be auctioned off to benefit Roan's nonprofit foundation, The Midwest Princess Project, which has a mission of uplifting trans youth and LGBTQ+ communities. Also up for auction will be one jersey signed by Roan, as well as two autographed vinyl records.
"I can't wait to see people in the jerseys and singing songs," Roan said in the video. "It's just gonna be so awesome! Thank you so much for supporting and coming out, and I love Springfield, I love the Cardinals. Love Missouri. So, yeah, let's play some ball!"
