The 2018 Winter Meetings in Las Vegas opened without any major moves getting done, but the rumor mill was in full effect with significant developments for a number of marquee names. 
The Yankees are presumably out on Bryce Harper, but still in on Manny Machado; the market for Indians ace Corey Kluber is said to be heating up; and All-Star Marlins catcher J.T. Realmuto continues to draw significant interest from several teams.
Below is a roundup of the biggest news out of Day 1 of baseball's annual summit for all 30 MLB clubs: 
AMERICAN LEAGUE EAST
Blue Jays
Starting pitchers Marcus Stroman and Aaron Sanchez have drawn "significant interest" from several teams, according to general manager Ross Atkins, but that doesn't mean Toronto is motivated to move either right-hander. More > 
Orioles
New general manager Mike Elias expects to pick a manager by the end of the month, from a pool of six candidates the O's have interviewed. More >
Rays
The Rays have reportedly maintained discussions with free-agent designated hitter Nelson Cruz, according to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times. They've been linked to Cruz all offseason and have an opening at DH after waiving C.J. Cron. More >
Red Sox
It looks like the chances of Craig Kimbrel returning to Boston are dwindling, with president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski telling reporters that he doesn't expect the Sox to shell out big money to fill the closer role in 2019. More >

Yankees
General manager Brian Cashman strongly denied interest in Bryce Harper, since the club already has six outfielders. But Manny Machado remains a possibility, as Cashman said he has spoken with the infielder's agent multiple times. And late Monday, reports surfaced of a discussed three-team deal between with the Mets and Marlins that would send Noah Syndergaard to the Bronx. More >

Indians
Trade rumors have swirled around Tribe starting pitchers throughout the offseason, and now that Carlos Carrasco has signed a contract extension with the team, talks involving Corey Kluber are intensifying. Multiple teams appear to be involved, with Dodgers outfield prospect Alex Verdugo one potential target. More >
Royals
The Royals got the Winter Meetings off to a fast start Monday morning. They're nearing a deal with free-agent center fielder Billy Hamilton, whose elite speed makes him the perfect fit for Kauffman Stadium's spacious outfield. More >
Tigers
The Tigers entered the Winter Meetings looking for bargains and got their first one on Monday. Detroit added veteran depth to its pitching staff, agreeing to a one-year, $5.75 million deal with free-agent right-hander Tyson Ross, who can pitch in the starting rotation or out of the bullpen. More >
Twins
While Minnesota isn't short on DH options, there is mutual interest between the club and free-agent slugger Nelson Cruz, who over his four seasons in Seattle led the Majors with 163 home runs. More >

White Sox
The White Sox intend to be aggressive as they look toward exiting the franchise's rebuild. "It is time now," said executive vice president Ken Williams. "The conversations are very different in the room this year than they were in the last few years. We have our eye toward getting better." More >

Angels
General manager Billy Eppler described his first day at the meetings as productive and said the Halos have been making progress in trade talks. Outfielder Kole Calhoun is one player on the big league roster who could be part of a potential deal. More >
Astros
Houston is looking to spend wisely this offseason and avoid going over the luxury-tax threshold, but Astros owner Jim Crane told MLB.com that general manager Jeff Luhnow will have the ability to raise payroll in order to address the team's needs. More >

Athletics
While keeping tabs on the free-agent market for starting pitchers, catchers and second basemen with the Winter Meetings underway, the A's also remain in ongoing conversations with star slugger Khris Davis about a contract extension. More >
Mariners
In the age of Shohei Ohtani, Seattle began its own two-way player experiment by claiming Kaleb Cowart off waivers from Ohtani's Angels, with the intention of giving him a chance to both pitch and play the infield. Cowart, 26, was a two-way star in high school but has not pitched as a professional. More >

The Rangers could look to trade from their outfield depth to address needs at other positions with the Braves emerging as a possible suitor for Nomar Mazara. More >

Braves

The Mets' pursuit of J.T. Realmuto has reportedly expanded to a three-team discussion between the Mets, Yankees and Marlins that could send Noah Syndergaard to the Bronx. But general manager Brodie Van Wagenen suggests he won't fill one hole if it creates another. More >

General manager Mike Rizzo said his club is "not closing the door on anything" when it comes to the possibility of re-signing Bryce Harper, despite comments Nats owner Mark Lerner made last week. More >

The Bucs are willing to listen to trade offers for players who have one season left before free agency (Francisco Cervelli, Corey Dickerson, Iván Nova), but general manager Neal Huntington feels no urgency to make such a move. More >
Reds
Despite a willingness to listen to any trade proposal, Cincinnati is not actively shopping second baseman Scooter Gennett. The 28-year-old, who has an .859 OPS over two years with the Reds, is due to reach free agency after the 2019 season. More >

D-backs
If A.J. Pollock leaves through free agency, general manager Mike Hazen believes Arizona will need to fill the center field spot through a trade or by shifting infielder Ketel Marte there. More >

Giants
Much of the discussion around the Giants' offseason has been centered around Madison Bumgarner's future, but another potential trade candidate emerged Monday in Brandon Belt. USA Today's Bob Nightengale reported that the Giants are making him available and that multiple teams have expressed interest. 
Padres
San Diego has been linked to many big names on the trade market, but the club is focusing on getting long-term value as it looks to build for 2020 and beyond. More >
