LOS ANGELES -- Yasiel Puig finally slugged his first home run of the year on Sunday, a solo shot to left field off Luis Castillo in the bottom of the third inning to cut Cincinnati's lead over the Dodgers to 2-1. The Dodgers went on to lose, 5-3.
Earlier this week in a Yahoo.com article, Puig said his mother asked him to hit a home run for her on Mother's Day.
Puig, who hit 28 home runs last year, is off to a slow start in 2018. He entered Sunday's play batting .200 with seven RBIs in 28 games. He spent 10 days on the disabled list with bruises of the hip and ankle, being activated on Tuesday.
