Cozart placed on IL with shoulder inflammation

OAKLAND -- Besides announcing the expected recall of right-hander Nick Tropeano, who allowed three runs in five innings in Tuesday's 6-4 win over Oakland, the Angels performed additional roster shuffling on Tuesday.

The Angels placed third baseman Zack Cozart on the 10-day injured list with left shoulder inflammation, optioned right-hander Taylor Cole to Triple-A and transferred outfielder Michael Hermosillo to the 60-day injured list.

Cozart, who is in the second year of a three-year, $38 million deal, is slashing just .124/.178/.144 with no home runs and seven RBIs in 38 games. He had a previous stint on the injured list in April after sustaining a neck strain.

Angels manager Brad Ausmus indicated that Cozart had been ailing for some time. Cole owned a 4.97 ERA in eight appearances.

The Angels also selected the contract of outfielder César Puello, who hit .299 with seven doubles, seven home runs and 27 RBIs in 42 games with Salt Lake. He has played for six different organizations in 12 professional seasons.
