WEST SACRAMENTO — The Athletics recalled infielder Alika Williams from Triple-A Las Vegas and placed utility player Zack Gelof on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to June 24, with a right hand contusion.

Williams was previously optioned to Las Vegas on June 21. The 27-year-old was acquired by the Athletics on May 16 from the Pirates in a trade that sent minor league right-handed pitcher Kyle Robinson to Pittsburgh. In 23 games with the A’s, Williams hit .289 (13-for-45) with five doubles, one home run, five RBI, and two walks. He played in 17 games at shortstop and six at second base. In two games with Las Vegas, Williams went 3-for-7 with a double and a home run.

Gelof exited Tuesday’s game in the second inning after his right hand was stepped on by Giants third baseman Matt Chapman, snapping his 24-game hitting streak, 27-game reaching-base streak and 13-game runs scored streak. The runs scored streak tied for fourth longest in Athletics history and was the longest in 93 years; the hitting streak tied for seventh longest and was the longest in 24 years. Overall, Gelof is batting .282 with 10 doubles, one triple, and 11 home runs in 62 games since being recalled from Las Vegas on April 10.
