Jacob Tyler Wilson…graduated from Thousand Oaks High School where his father, Jack, was the head coach…his father played 12 seasons in the majors with the Pirates (2001-09), Mariners (2009-11) and Braves (2011-12) and hit .265 with 61 home runs and 426 RBI in 1370 games… Jacob played collegiately at Grand Canyon University where he was a three-time first-team AllWAC honoree and the 2023 WAC Defensive Player of the Year…hit .360 with 22 home runs and 152 RBI in 154 games in three seasons with the Antelopes and struck out just 31 times in 694 plate appearances (22.4 plate appearances per strikeout).

The A’s 2023 first round draft pick began his career with the A’s affiliate in the Arizona Complex League and went 5-for-11 (.455) in three games before he was moved up to High-A Lansing…hit .318 in 23 games with the Lugnuts and combined for a .333 batting average, 11 doubles, one home run, 13 RBI and an .866 OPS in 26 games...Struck out just 11 times in 111 plate appearances, an average of 10.09 plate appearances per strikeout...Batted .333 (8-for-24) with his lone home run against left-handed pitchers and .333 (25-for75) against right-handers...Had a .308 batting average with runners in scoring position...Hit .367 in the seventh inning or later and connected for his only home run in the ninth inning...Started 23 games at shortstop and two at designated hitter…committed three errors for a .970 fielding percentage...Batted second 22 times, first three times and ninth once...Was rated as the A’s No. 1 prospect by MiLB.com following the season.
