A's option five players, outright one and place four on disabled list

OAKLAND, Calif. - The Oakland A's optioned right-handed pitchers Trevor Cahill and Frankie Montas, infielder Franklin Barreto and outfielders Mark Canha and Dustin Fowler to Triple-A Nashville, the club announced today. Right-handed pitcher Raul Alcántara was outrighted to Triple-A Nashville after clearing waivers. The A's placed right-handed pitchers Paul Blackburn and Ryan Dull, catcher Josh Phegley and infielder Renato Núñez on the 10-day disabled list retroactive to March 26. Blackburn has a strained right forearm, Dull has a strained right shoulder, Núñez has a strained left hamstring and Phegley fractured the fourth and fifth fingers on his right hand. The A's also reassigned their three remaining non-roster invitees - right-handed pitcher Simon Castro, catcher Beau Taylor and infielder Sheldon Neuse - to their minor league camp.
