The New York Yankees announced today that they have invited OF Randal Grichuk to 2026 Major League spring training.
Grichuk, 34, has hit .251/.298/.465 (1,126-for-4,494) with 611R, 268 doubles, 29 triples, 212HR, 629RBI and 273BB in 1,361 games over 12 Major League seasons with the St. Louis Cardinals (2014-17), Toronto Blue Jays (2018-21), Colorado Rockies (2022-23), Los Angeles Angels (2023), Arizona Diamondbacks (2024-25) and Kansas City Royals (2025). He has appeared defensively at all three outfield positions (580G/441GS in RF; 470G/425GS in CF; 215G/176GS in LF). The right-handed batter combined to hit .228/.273/.401 (62-for-272) with 35R, 18 doubles, 1 triple, 9HR, 27RBI and 17BB in 113 games with Arizona and Kansas City in 2025.
The Rosenberg, Tex., native was originally selected by the Los Angeles Angels in the first round (24th overall) of the 2009 First-Year Player Draft. Grichuk was acquired by the St. Louis Cardinals from Los Angeles-AL along with OF Peter Bourjos in exchange for INF David Freese and RHP Fernando Salas on November 22, 2013. He was acquired by the Toronto Blue Jays from St. Louis in exchange for RHP Dominic Leone and RHP Conner Greene on January 19, 2018. Grichuk was acquired by the Colorado Rockies from Toronto along with cash considerations in exchange for INF Raimel Tapia and INF Adrian Pinto on March 24, 2022. He was acquired by Los Angeles-AL from Colorado along with INF C.J. Cron and cash considerations in exchange for LHP Mason Albright and RHP Jake Madden on July 30, 2023. Grichuk was signed by the Arizona Diamondbacks to a one-year Major League contract on March 4, 2024 and re-signed with the club on February 28, 2025. He was acquired by the Kansas City Royals from Arizona in exchange for RHP Andrew Hoffmann on July 26, 2025.
