Cubs acquire C Bobby Wilson from Minnesota

The Chicago Cubs today acquired catcher Bobby Wilson from the Minnesota Twins for catcher Chris Gimenez and a player to be named or cash consideration.  Wilson was placed on the 10-day disabled list with a sprained right ankle on August 24.
To make room for Wilson on the 40-man roster, right-handed pitcher Cory Mazzoni has been designated for assignment.
Wilson, 35, has spent all or part of nine major league campaigns with six clubs, seeing action with the Los Angeles Angels (2008-12), Arizona Diamondbacks (2014), the Tampa Bay Rays (2015, 2016), Texas Rangers (2015, 2016), Detroit Tigers (2016) and Twins (2018).  He is a career .208 hitter (185-for-888) with 39 doubles, 18 homers and 100 RBI in 371 major league contests.
The right-handed batter is hitting .178 (24-for-135) with two homers and 16 RBI in 47 games with the Twins this season.
Gimenez, 35, hit .204 (41-for-201) with two homers and 18 RBI in 68 games with Triple-A Iowa this year.  He batted .143 (4-for-28) with one RBI in 12 games with the Cubs this season.
Mazzoni, 28, went 4-3 with four saves and a 4.46 ERA (19 ER/38.1 IP) in 29 relief outings with Iowa this season.  With Chicago, Mazzoni went 1-0 with a 1.04 ERA (1 ER/8.2 IP) in eight relief outings this year.
