Mariners Announce May Minor League Awards

SEATTLE – Seattle Mariners Director of Player Development Justin Toole announced today the following Mariners Minor League Award winners for the month of May:

Celesten, 20, hit .352 (32x91) over 25 games in May with 8 doubles, 3 home runs, 22 runs scored, 13 RBI, 17 walks, and 7 stolen bases, posting a .460 on-base percentage, .538 slugging percentage and a .998 OPS in May with High-A Everett.

The 20-year-old Mariners prospect got off to a hot start in May, earning Northwest League Player of the Week honors for the week of April 27-May 3 after slashing .435/.517/1.082 with 9 runs, 5 RBI, 4 walks, and 2 stolen bases over that span. He saw out a 25-game hit-streak (4/21-5/21) over the course of the month before it was snapped on May 22 against the Tri-City Dust Devils. His 25 consecutive games with a hit remain the longest such streak recorded in the Minor Leagues this season and was just three games short of the Northwest League record. The switch-hitting shortstop ended the impressive month ranking 5th in OBP (.460), 2nd in batting average (.352), T-6th in hits, and T-6th in doubles among High-A batters with at least 100 plate appearances over the month. He also logged the 2nd most runs (22), the 3rd most total bases and tied for the 7th most stolen bases in the NWL in May.

The international free agent signed with the Mariners out of the Dominican Republic in January of 2023 at which point he was ranked as the No. 2 international free agent in his class (MLB Pipeline). Celesten played through his first full season in 2025 after missing 2023 and a significant portion of 2024 with injury. He spent the beginning of the 2025 season with the Modesto Nuts, the former Mariners Class-A affiliate, logging 93 games with the team before being assigned to the Everett AquaSox.

Pagliarini, 25, logged a team-leading OPS of 1.267 over 22 games in May with a .365 batting average (31x85) and a .659 on-base percentage bolstered by his 6 doubles, 2 triples, 5 home runs, and 12 walks. He recorded 20 RBI, 17 runs, and 4 stolen bases in the process.

The third baseman logged a hit in 17 of 22 games played over the course of the month with 10 being multi-hit efforts. He found a way aboard in 20 of the 22 games and did so 2+ times in 14 games. He had his first 4-hit outing of the season and 3rd of his career on May 2, staying hot throughout the month to finish with a team-leading 31 hits and 56 total bases. Pagliarini led the Texas League in on-base percentage (.449) and OPS (1.108) in May (min. 80 AB) while ranking 2nd in hits (31) and extra-base hits (13), 3rd in total bases (56), and 6th in RBI.

Pagliarini was selected by the Seattle Mariners in the 19th round of the 2023 MLB First-Year Draft (577th overall) out of Fairfield University. He worked his way through the Mariners minor league system, spending all of 2025 with High-A Everett before being promoted to Double-A Arkansas for the start of the 2026 season.

Anderson, 21, is named Pitcher of the Month for the 2nd consecutive month after going 3-0 with a 2.13 ERA (6 ER, 25.1 IP), 37 strikeouts, and 3 walks over 5 starts with Double-A Arkansas in May. He posted a 0.79 WHIP while holding opposing batters to a .191 batting average (26x152) and a .217 OBP in May.

The southpaw allowed 1-or-fewer runs while striking out 7+ and walking 1-or-fewer batters in 4-of-5 starts over the course of the month, 3 of which were scoreless outings. Anderson led off the month, throwing a career-high 5.2 innings with no runs, 4 base runners allowed on 4 hits, and 8 strikeouts in his May 1 start. He was the only pitcher in Double-A to log 2 scoreless starts with no walks and 8+ strikeouts in May, also done in his last start of the month on May 29. The 21-year-old starting pitcher managed to top his impressive April K/BB (7.50) and BB/9 (1.93) marks with a 12.22 K/BB and a 1.07 BB/9 over the last month.

The 2025 Baseball America National Player of the Year did not appear in a game in 2025 and entered 2026 ranked as the Mariners No. 2 prospect (No. 1 pitching prospect) and MLB’s 17th overall prospect, according to MLB Pipeline.

Sloan, 20, went 1-1 over 5 starts with Double-A Arkansas in May, earning a 3.52 ERA (9 ER, 23.0 IP) with 32 strikeouts to 2 walks for a 16.00 K/BB and a 1.00 WHIP. He limited batters to a .244 batting average (21x86) through his 5 May starts.

On May 30, the right-handed starter pitched 6.0 perfect innings with 11 strikeouts. His innings pitched and strikeouts both marked career highs. Sloan punched out 10 of his final 15 batters of the game to add a total of 11 Ks to his May strikeout mark. His 32 total strikeouts in May were the 6th most in the Texas League over that span, while he ranked 4th in K/BB (16.00) and 8th in K/9 (12.52) in Double-A (min. 20.0 IP).

The No. 3 Mariners prospect (MLB Pipeline) was drafted 55th overall in 2024 by the Seattle Mariners out of York Community High School in Elmhurst, Illinois. Sloan debuted in 2025 and logged a 3.73 ERA (34 ER, 82.0), 90 strikeouts, 15 walks, and a 1.16 WHIP over 21 games (21 starts) between Low-A Modesto and High-A-Everett in his first season in the minor leagues before being promoted to Double-A Arkansas for the 2026 season.

Alford, 28, made 8 relief appearances between Double-A Arkansas and Triple-A Tacoma in May, logging a 0.00 ERA (0 ER, 11.1 IP) with 20 strikeouts, 2 walks, and a 0.88 WHIP, while holding batters to a .205 batting average (16x76).

Alford gave the Arkansas Travelers 8.1 scoreless innings of relief over 6 games before being promoted to Triple-A Tacoma on May 26, where he made his final 2 scoreless appearances of the month. The lefty reliever pitched over 1.0 innings in 4 outings, allowing 1-or-fewer hits in 3 of the 4. On May 15, Alford pitched 2.0 innings in relief, striking out 6 batters, the most since April 12, 2022 with Double-A Arkansas. He is tied for the 12th best K/BB (10.00) among Minor League pitchers with 8+ appearances in May and is 1-of-3 players in the Minor Leagues to log 20+ strikeouts while not allowing a run over 8+ games.

Alford signed a minor league contract with the Mariners as an undrafted free agent in 2021 and spent the 2022 through the beginning part of the 2026 season with the Arkansas Travelers before being assigned to the Tacoma Rainiers this month on May 26

Becker, 19, went 15-for-15 in stole base attempts over 20 games with the ACL Mariners in May. He logged 4 games with multiple stolen bases, including a career-high 4 stolen bases on May 4. His 15 stolen bases rank 2nd most in the rookie league in May, while he is 1-of-6 players with 10+ stolen bases and a 1.000 SB%. The shortstop reached base at a .422 clip in May batting .273 (18x66) with 5 doubles, 1 triple, 1 home run, 15 walks, 21 runs scored, and 9 RBI. His 21 times touching home plate last month were the 3rd most in the Rookie League.

The Mariner’s No. 9 prospect was drafted in the 2nd round (57th overall) of the 2025 draft and played 6 games with the Mariners former Single-A affiliate, the Modesto Nuts, before being placed on the 7-day IL last season.

Dorighi, 22, played 21 games for High-A Everett in May, splitting time with 105.2 innings played at 2nd base and 76.0 played at 3rd. He owns a 1.000 fielding percentage over 53 total chances, logging 19 putouts, 34 assists and executing 7 double plays at 2nd base while notching a .955 fielding percentage over 22 total chances with 6 putouts, 15 assists, and only a single error in his time at 3rd base in May.

The Mariners signed Dorighi as an undrafted free agent in 2024. He played 3 games with the ACL Mariners before being assigned to the Modesto Nuts in 2024. He was then promoted to High-A Everett 86 games into the 2025 season on July 21.
