Mariners reinstate Marco Gonzales; recall Matt Festa and Nick Rumbelow

SEATTLE -- Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Jerry Dipoto announced today the following roster moves:
• Marco Gonzales, LHP, reinstated from the 10-day disabled list.
• Matt Festa, RHP, recalled from AA Arkansas.
• Nick Rumbelow, RHP, recalled from AA Arkansas.
Gonzales (#32), Festa (#67) and Rumbelow (#52) will be in uniform and available for tonight's (7:10 pm PT) game vs. the San Diego Padres at Safeco Field.
Gonzales is scheduled to be the Mariners starting pitcher in tonight's (7:10 pm PT) game vs. the San Diego Padres at Safeco Field.
Gonzales, 26, was placed on the 10-day disabled list on Aug. 27 (retro to 8/24) with a cervical (neck) muscle strain. He is 12-9 with a 4.32 ERA (70 ER, 145.2 IP) with 128 strikeouts and 28 walks in 25 starts with the Mariners this season. He leads the club in wins, while ranking 2nd in strikeouts, 3rd in quality starts (12), 4th in starts and 4th in innings pitched. Through the end of July, the 6-foot-1, 199-pound left-hander ranked among American League leaders in wins (T4th, 12), ERA (10th, 3.37), BB/9.0 IP (5th, 1.79) and K/BB ratio (7th, 4.44). He tossed his 1st career complete game on June 29 vs. Kansas City, holding the Royals to 1 run on 6 hits while striking out 7. He was named to his 1st career Opening Day roster this season.
Gonzales split the 2017 season between Seattle and St. Louis, going 1-1 with a 6.08 ERA (27 ER, 40.0 IP) with 32 strikeouts and 11 walks in in 11 games (8 starts). He was acquired by the Mariners from St. Louis in exchange for minor league outfielder Tyler O'Neill on July 21, 2017. Over his last 5 appearances (2 starts) of 2017, he went 1-0 with a 2.81 ERA (5 ER, 16.0 IP) with 17 strikeouts and 4 walks with the Mariners.
In parts of 4 Major League seasons with the Cardinals (2014-15, '17) and Mariners (2017-c), he is 17-12 with a 4.72 ERA (117 ER, 223.0 IP) with 192 strikeouts and 61 walks in 47 games (39 starts). Gonzales, who resides in Seattle in the off-season, was drafted by St. Louis in the 1st round (19th overall) of the 2013 Draft out of Gonzaga University, becoming the highest draft pick in the history of the Bulldogs baseball program.
Festa, 25, is appearing in his 3rd stint with Seattle this season (also: 7/14-15 and 8/18-19). In 2 relief appearances with the Mariners this season, he has a 3.38 ERA (1 ER, 2.2 IP) with 1 walk. He made his Major League debut with Seattle on July 14 at Colorado, tossing 0.2 scoreless innings in relief. He led the Texas League in saves this season, successfully converting 20-of-22 (90.9%) opportunities. In 44 relief appearances with AA Arkansas, he went 5-2 with 20 saves and a 2.76 ERA (15 ER, 49.0 IP). The 6-foot-1, 190-pound right-hander struck out 67 while walking only 12 (5.58 K/BB ratio). He was named to the Texas League Postseason All-Star team.
The native of Brooklyn, NY, attended Dominican (NY) College in 2012 before transferring to East Stroudsburg University, where he became the highest draft pick in program history after the Mariners selected him in the 7th round of the 2016 MLB First-Year Player Draft.
Rumbelow, 27, is appearing in his 5th stint with the Seattle this season (also: 6/14-22, 7/4-12, 8/9-11 and 8/22-28). In 9 relief appearances with the Mariners this season, he has a 6.75 ERA (10 ER, 13.1 IP) with 9 strikeouts and 3 walks. The 6-foot, 190-pound right-hander went 1-0 with 2 saves and a 2.04 ERA (4 ER, 17.2 IP) with 25 strikeouts and 8 walks in 13 outings with AAA Tacoma this season. After being optioned to AA Arkansas on Aug. 28, Rumbelow has allowed only 2 hits in 2.0 scoreless innings over 2 appearances. He began the season on the Tacoma disabled list with a brachial plexus injury before being reinstated on June 5.
Rumbelow has appeared in the Majors with New York-AL (2015) and Seattle (2018-c) and is a combined 1-1 with a 5.28 ERA (17 ER, 29.0 IP) in 26 relief appearances. He was drafted by New York-AL in the 7th round of the 2013 amateur draft out of Louisiana State University. Rumbelow was acquired by the Mariners from the Yankees in exchange for minor leaguers JP Sears (lhp) and Juan Then (rhp) on Nov. 18, 2017.
