Pirates to host "Play Ball" event at PNC Park

The Pittsburgh Pirates announced today that registration is now open for the Pirates 2019 Play Ball event scheduled for Sunday, June 2 at PNC Park. The Pirates will host youth between the ages of 5 and 13 years old from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. for fun baseball and softball activities in and around PNC Park.

The Play Ball event is free of charge and is open to all area youth ages 5 to 13 years; advanced registration is required and all spots will be filled on a first-come-first served basis. To register, please visit pirates.com/playball2019. Leading up to the event, an email will be sent directly from the Pirates with detailed event-day information.

The early morning on-field event will include interactive baseball/softball-related activities, including hitting, defensive stations, pitching in the bullpen and more. Each station will be led by Pirates RBI players and coaches.

Participating youth are asked to wear tennis shoes only (no spikes will be permitted). Colored wristbands will be distributed at registration (pre-assigned) to identify individual groups. Each participant will be provided with with a lunch following the event, and will receive two complimentary tickets for that day’s 1:35 p.m. game vs. the Milwaukee Brewers.

Sundays are Kids’ Days at PNC Park with fun on Federal Street beginning at 11 a.m. As part of the Play Ball event, there will be interactive baseball/softball-themed activities, including a Diamond Kinetics station, a pitching station and more, in addition to the regularly-scheduled Kids’ Day Federal Street activities.

Also, all kids 14 and under attending the 1:35 p.m. game vs. the Milwaukee Brewers will be able to take part in the Rivendale Kids Free Ice Cream Day and after the game will have the opportunity to take part in the Kids Run the Bases, presented by the Rivendale.
